In a city that has more sushi restaurants than you can shake a stick at, it's Yoshi's traditional approach that sets it apart. That means traditional Japanese cuisine, but also traditional Japanese service - a beautiful combination. The menu features a nice blend of old (Ishiyaki - beef seared on a heated rock) and new (Deep Fried Marinated Chicken appetizer). Guests are treated in a ceremonial style: a warm greeting upon entering and dishes that arrive to the table one at a time.
The Scene
Yoshi's impeccable service may keep people coming back, but its location sure doesn't hurt. Situated on the second floor at the North tip of Denman Street, it offers a picturesque view of Stanley Park, Lost Lagoon and Coal Harbour. The sleek, but comfortable, interior reflects the restaurants fine balance of contemporary and authentic.
The Extra Mile
Just when you think it can't get any better: on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Yoshi offers a special menu based on food that arrives fresh by air from Japan. It just doesn't get more authentic than that.
