An Asian Shopping Experience
Located on No. 3 Road, Yaohan Centre is one of Richmond’s most popular Asian malls. Since opening in June 1994, it has welcomed thousands of eager shoppers to its 80 retail outlets which offer everything from art, jigsaw puzzles, Hello Kitty paraphernalia, bargain-priced hair products, Chinese-language books, and the latest fashions and accessories from Hong Kong and Taiwan. A day spent at Yaohan Centre, perhaps with a side trip to neighboring Asian-themed malls Aberdeen Centre and Parker Place, is sure to provide a fun, unique shopping experience for everyone.

A Grocery Adventure
A definite draw is Osaka grocery store, part of the T&T chain. On weekends, the aisles are chock-ful of shoppers on the hunt for Asian food products not found anywhere else. Whether you’re looking for food from home or simply an adventurous eater looking for exotic fare, you are sure to find it here. Green tea-flavoured Pocky, Bin-bin rice crackers, chilled Japanese cheesecake – Osaka’s got it. It also has a fabulous bakery, offering cakes, cookies and Chinese buns and pastries. Like most Asian groceries, it stocks fresh seafood like shrimp, tilapia, crab, abalone. It also has a butcher shop and a small section selling Japanese tableware.

Mall Munchies
The food court, on the main level of the mall, has about 20 outlets. While the food is mostly Chinese, there’s also Japanese, Korean, bubble tea, and a handful of dessert places offering healthy tofu-based drinks and more decadent waffles and ice cream. The prices are very affordable and servings ultra-hearty. Try the seafood congee or the BBQ pork or roast duck, both ordered by weight. Incredibly cheap bargains can be had: heaps of rice topped by overflowing mounds of two or three meat, seafood or fish dishes – good enough for two people – for less than five dollars!
