A Little Nook
Yakko Sushi may not be the easiest place to find, but it’s well worth the search. This little Japanese take-out restaurant is located under Station Square in Metrotown at the foot of the Skytrain station. Since it’s under the station, the outside of the restaurant is a bit dark, but the inside is as lively as you can imagine. Here, sushi chefs work around the clock in an open kitchen atmosphere. It’s loud, cheerful and a bit crowded, but you’re sure to enjoy yourself. The friendly wait staff is quick and eager to give suggestions. You can either sit at one of the few tables in the corner or pull a chair right up to the bar and watch the chefs at work. Space is limited though, so you might be inclined to get your sushi to go.

Choices, Choices, Choices
Choices at Yakko Sushi are practically unlimited. The restaurant is full of large posters and signs that describe each dish and have handy display photos. It’s easy to step up to the counter and order exactly what you want by pointing right at it. Choose from a wide selection of rolled sushi, sushi cones, plump udon noodles, crispy tempura and, of course, fresh raw sashimi. Yakko Sushi also offers an extensive list of sushi combos so you can try a little bit of everything. There’s even a kids’ combo. For larger parties, try one of the trays featuring up to 40 pieces. It’s perfect for catering your own get-togethers.

Thinking Ahead
If you’re thinking ahead or know in advance you have a lot of mouths to feed, you can call ahead and order. Yakko Sushi offers a five per cent discount for orders placed two hours in advance.
