b>A Club for the Community
The WISE club welcomes everyone from artists and musicians to doctors and lawyers and everyone in between to join its ranks. The goal of the club is to promote friendship in a social and athletic atmosphere and provide a community hall for members of the greater community to gather. WISE is an acronym for Welsh, Irish, Scottish and English, reflecting the origins of the club's original members.

Historic Roots
The club held its first meeting at Lochdale Hall in 1958 where the name was chosen and social events including dart games, picnics and parties were planned. Because of increasing membership, the club moved to the Horticultural Hall in 1959 where it held weekly meetings, dances and concerts. In the early sixties the club moved into its current Adanac Street location and grew to over 1,000 members. Membership declined over the years to as low as 20, but is now around 275. To this day, members play on the baseball and darts teams and compete in weekly pool tournaments. Others watch Pay-Per-View sports or enjoy Member Events including the WISE Club dances, St. Paddy's Day party, Thanksgiving potluck and New Year's party.

Available for Rent
The building the club calls home was built in 1926 as a church hall. Now dubbed the WISE Hall, it is a wood frame building suited for a variety of activities. There is a high ceiling multipurpose room on the second floor with a stage, green room, washrooms and bar. The first floor of the building is the WISE Club members' lounge where members play darts, pool, watch the Canucks games and grab a pint. Primarily used for concerts, dances, receptions, film shoots and meetings, the hall is available for rent to the general public.
