Opened first in Spring 2003 this winery began with 10,000 bottles fermented in 2002 and have been winning awards and creating new wines ever since. With just over 20 varieties of berry and grape wines, Westham Estate Winery has become known for its ingredients. Producing an average 10,000 bottles of wine a year, the winery is becoming the premiere spot in British Columbia to pick coveted fruit wine.
A Drink to Honour a Man
Stop by the location on Westham Island (in the Delta region) and enjoy a glass in the unique tasting room located on the property. Guests are invited to sample as many wines as they would like. Tours of the winery are also offered, where guests will hear the story of fruit farmer Andy Bissett and his dream. He sadly passed away just before the winery began but his wife and daughter carry on the dream. The wine boutique also sells wine jellies, syrups, gourmet cheeses and can prepare gift baskets or packages to your liking.
What’s in the Bottle?
Currently, Westham Estate Winery produces 14 regular fruit wines, seven dessert wines and two grape wines. Each wine has a specific purpose and flavour. Try the Cranberry wine if you’re cooking poultry or pork dishes; or the White Currant if you’re cooking shellfish or a light pasta. The Golden Raspberry Dessert wine goes well with a dark chocolate dish and the Just Ducky grape wine if you’re going to be frying your supper up on the barbecue.
