…and join hundreds of thousands of others from all over the world who have visited the West Coast Railway Heritage Park since it opened in 1994. Squamish’s largest tourist attraction boasts Western Canada’s most comprehensive heritage railway collection and 12 acres of fun activities and exhibits for people of all ages. The impressive collection includes 65 pieces of heritage railway “rolling stock” dating back to 1890 and a slew of railway related artifacts.
Blast From The Past
The park is set up like typical railway facility from the mid-20th century with a station building, heritage house and railway cars. Visitors can see authentic equipment in various stages of restoration and hop on the West Coast Miniature Rail for a scenic 2.5-kilometres tour around the park. The park preserves the heritage of the railways of British Columbia in an entertaining and educational way and is well worth a visit! Don’t forget to visit the charming gift shop where you’ll find unique items for collectors.
Home Of The Hudson
The West Coast Railway Heritage Park is home to the famous Royal Hudson steam train. The best-known steam locomotive in North America has been restored thanks to the efforts of park volunteers. The train acts as an ambassador to the heritage site, Squamish and British Columbia and is a big draw to the park. After undergoing a multi-year project to rebuild the broiler, the Royal Hudson went on an excursion to White Rock in the spring of 2007, and was welcome by thousands of revelers.
Unique Party Venue
Spice up an annual corporate meeting or birthday party by hosting it at the one-of-a-kind West Coast Railway Heritage Park. Groups of all sizes are welcome and there’s theatre seating for up to 65 people and banquet seating for up to 56 (seven tables of eight). The library boardroom, the education room and parts of the heritage park can also be booked for private functions. Catering from reputable local companies can be arranged to suit your party’s needs. There’s even a children’s party caboose for birthdays and other special occasions!
