The Washington Avenue Grill, affectionately known as the “WAG,” is a popular local hangout and a destination spot for dinner from all over the Lower Mainland and across the border. You can’t miss the charming, bright yellow building that boarders Semiahmoo Park. As the only restaurant on the ocean side of the east beach corner, it offers an unrivaled view of the bay. But it’s what on the inside (and in the kitchen) that counts...
Three In One
The WAG offers visitors the opportunity to dine in three unique atmospheres. The glass atrium features a breathtaking view and an el fresco feel. The main dining room is both chic and cosy, and puts you in the heart of the action. Romantic corner tables offer a prime spot for an intimate evening with someone special. When the sun is shining, the award-winning patio is one of the best hangouts in town.
An Inspired Menu
The cuisine at the WAG is best characterized as Pacific-Northwestern. Inspired seafood dishes anchor the menu with new twists on classics and mixed plates to satisfy indecisive diners. Instead of the traditional White Rock fish ’n’ chips, the WAG serves up its classier interpretation: salmon and chips in a light herb tempura batter with seasoned French fries and tartar sauce. Deluxe pasta dishes, like lobster-stuffed ravioli, will satisfy hearty appetites and the artistry of the meals is sure to delight. The ravioli, for example, is served with grilled scallops and asparagus in a strawberry dill cream. A selection of steak dishes will impress carnivores, who can also choose from lamb and chicken dishes. Lunch introduces some lighter meals, including sandwiches and salads.
From The Bar
The WAG offers a worldly wine list with many by-the-glass and half-bottle choices. There are at least a half dozen Champagne and sparkling wine choices at any given time and a generous wine rack full of reserve bottles. The WAG is also known for its deliciously strong martinis. Every Thursday is martini madness and the drinks are on special to thank patrons for collectively buying a whopping 600 martinis a night in the summer! After a few, hit the dance floor! Live music is on five days a week at the WAG. The lineup is always changing, but offers an eclectic mix of soulful piano and upbeat dance. Local artists are often on the mic. The tunes on the weekend intend to get people dancing.
