Uprising Breads Bakery is a great place to meet for coffee, pick up fresh bread, or just sit and watch the world go by. The bakery and cafe is situated just off the Commercial Drive divide; you’re not likely to miss the bright building with the colourful striped awnings as you approach. This popular spot draws a diverse crowd. The chairs outside provide a place for patrons to relax and enjoy their freshly baked treats while watching the passing parade of bicycles, dogs, kids in strollers, and people.

Upon entering Uprising Breads Bakery, you’re greeted with shelves of their famous bread and display cases of muffins, cookies, squares, cakes, pies and tarts, and other treats. Everything is baked fresh on site, every day. The bakery has been around since 1976 and emphasizes high quality ingredients including organic ones wherever possible, whole grains, and natural sweeteners such as honey. For lunch, sandwiches are made with fresh breads and vegetarian soups are made daily from scratch. Everything can be made to go or enjoyed in the cozy cafe area. In addition, Uprising Breads serves fair trade organic Ethical Bean Coffee and offers a full espresso bar.
