Unity Marguerite Whittaker is a traveler. Within a span of ten years she spent nearly five years abroad. While away, she went shopping. She bought jewellery and art and trinkets for herself and her friends. Her friends wanted more for themselves and to give to their friends. The next time Unity went away, she bought her finds from wholesale suppliers and shipped them home. Not only were her friends delighted, but the people who purchased these items at home shows, festivals and kiosks were happy. Unity was excited about her new business, and originally thought she would do it online. Instead, she opened U-The Life Accessory Store, and came home.
Too Good to be Re-Gifted
Part of U’s appeal is that they carry products that cost from six to 1,400 hundred dollars. Such a wide price range means that there’s something for everybody. There are luxury body and bath products from Barefoot Venus and Gianna Rose. Books and artwork, which always make great gifts, are here. SIGG Bottles, known for not leaching chemicals into beverages like other reusable bottles are for sale at U. There’s also lots of jewellery from Vancouver and abroad. Rachel Leigh, Catherine Weitzman, Marco Polo Designs, and Vanessa Lianne are just some of the lines available. Michaela Binder’s amazing felt and gold necklaces are here too.
Link Likes Visitors
Unity’s dog Link likes to hang out in the store when Unity is working. He’s a friendly little guy and may nudge a toy at your feet in hopes that you’ll toss it across the black and white tiles of the store. He might feel at home here because the space is set up to resemble a house. Bookshelves, armoires, side tables and dressers painted black, white or red display the stores wares. The bold colours are meant to make male customers feel comfortable. Although most of the merchandise is geared towards women, men find this a great place to purchase gifts for the ladies in their lives. Gift-wrapping is available too!
