Need a trendy place to take a date without taking out a loan? Look no further than Trattoria Italian Kitchen. This sleekly designed room serves modern takes on Italian dishes in portions that might actually fill you up, for shockingly reasonable prices. The sidewalk patio is perfect for dining outside, especially on a sunny day when you can watch Kitsilano’s stylish habitués work the runway that is West Fourth, while tucking into a shared platter of antipasto.
The Place to Be
A comfortable bar and lounge area awaits just inside the door. The kitchen is visible (and audible) from the elevated bar seats, and a red reflective mirror runs along the rear, adding to the buzzy, see-and-be-seen atmosphere. The restaurant’s wine collection – encompassing 50 selections from major wine regions in Italy (Tuscany, Piedmont, Veneto, and Sicily), as well as California and BC – also forms part of the décor. The servers and managers are all well-versed in wine pairing and will not hesitate to help you match one to your meal.
Plenty to Go Around
Since Trattoria Italian Kitchen was envisioned as a social space as well as an authentic Italian food experience, it comes as no surprise that the menu was designed for sharing. You could order a variety of items from the menu, such as the Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio, Forno Baked Clams, Lamb Sausage with Chanterelle Mushrooms Pizza, and for dessert, house-made Tiramisu. The Trattoria also specializes in platters, such as the Carne & Pesce Platter with prawns, veal, lamb, and trout; or the Pasta Platter with Spaghetti and Kobe Meatballs with Tomato Fonduta, Penne Pomodoro, Linguine Pesto, and Lasagne. Relax and enjoy; a trip to the Trat is sure to be memorable.
