Turn up the good
Tommy Africa’s – or “Tommy’s” for short - is the ultimate ski town nightclub. The music is always pumping, the vibe is always energetic and the drinks are always flowing. Known for a “younger” demographic, Tommy’s is frequented by the seasonaire and tourist crowd. It’s also the ultimate meat market. The club hosts a variety of world-renowned DJs and is well known for its house music, although it holds the occasional punk or metal night. Contact the club to get on the guest list or set up a VIP booth. They specialize in hosting stagette groups, and waive the cover and line-up. Visit the website to sign up.

Go-Go gadget dancers
Tommy’s is known throughout the ski industry for its troop of Go-Go dancers. The group of booty shakin’ beauties was founded by “mama go-go” and Whistler legend, Ace McKay, who also spins around town as DJ Foxy Moron. Ace also appeared as a dancer in the ski movie, Groove. The Go-Go girls dance every night, wearing crazy costumes and big smiles. They have even been featured in magazines, such as Powder, Maxim, Skiing and Outside and have even been hired to perform at major ski and snowboard festivals.

’80s night is a blast
Break out the spandex, Zinc and fanny packs; Monday is ’80s night and, by far, the best night of the week at Tommy’s. DJ Ryder spins retro tunes and most people dress up – retro ski gear is the most popular theme. The Re-use It Centre in Function Junction is the best place in town to find the most hideous one-piece ski suits and other loud ’80s clothing.
