Standing on the outside, you know TNA isn't going to be a hum-drum shopping experience. TNA stores are known for their bright, airy, gallery-like spaces that showcase its clothes, accessories, and art work to their best advantage. The South Granville branch is modern and futuristic, with a 40-foot mural of an indoor garden that is an exuberant explosion of bold colours and strokes by former art director of Tokion magazine Deanne Cheuk. TNA Metrotown, on the other hand, has a gorgeous B.C. kitsch mural, which includes some hand-drawn creations by in-house artists.
For something that started as a house brand of the Aritzia chain, TNA has taken off with a style and signature that's distinctively its own. Incredibly popular with the “tween” set, it has garnered a cult-like following from young fashionistas who go ga-ga over its snuggly but street-cred worthy merchandise: basic tees, puffy parkas, luxe sweaters, trendy leggings, as well as a good selection of designer denims (the ones with elaborate back-pocket designs that cost a pretty penny but make your legs look so long and lean they're worth it). It also carries accessories like hats, belts, scarves and sporty bags. Its comfy hoodies and TNA-logo emblazoned sweatshirts are so ubiquitous you can't walk down any Vancouver street without seeing at least one.
Then, Now, Always
Contrary to what some people believe, TNA doesn't stand for certain body parts. A smart marketing campaign tagged TNA as, "Then, Now, Always," appealing to its devoted customer base. But officially, TNA stands for "Talula National Athletic." Perky staff are eager to help, and will keep you updated on the latest trends and must-have items.
