Good, Old-fashioned Pizza and Steak Made Well
Sunrise Chef and owner Gordon Cheung has been working in the kitchen since 1980, when Sunrise Pizza was a mom and pop eatery owned by a closely-knit Greek family. He subsequently bought the restaurant but changed very little on the menu. Locals and passers-by like things just the way they are, so Cheung doesn’t see the point of fixing something that isn’t broken. From the minute you walk through the door into the authentically retro environment, which probably hasn’t seen a decor change since the day Cheung started, you know that pretension isn’t welcome here. The down-to-earth, friendly servers, basic menu, and bar list that includes classic cocktails like Harvey Wallbangers and Rusty Nails creates a nostalgic ambiance. The food, while perhaps not gourmet, doesn’t disappoint.

Repeat Customers
Multiple generations of the same families return to eat at Sunrise on a regular basis. The food is dependable and inexpensive. There is enough selection to satisfy most groups. Pastas include baked lasagna, spaghetti, rigatoni and more. Steaks are served in 6, 8 and 12 ounce sizes. The range of Greek dishes includes chicken, beef and lamb souvlaki, calamari (recommended) and roast lamb. Pizzas, though, are the place’s biggest sellers. Sunrise offers takeout and delivery.

Patio Perusing and Late Night Noshing
Sunrise’s side patio is a pleasant place to wind down with something to eat and people-watch on a warm evening. The restaurant’s relatively late hours make it a convivial place to stop by for a snack when the party’s over.
