This fitness centre bears the name of Steve Nash, one of British Columbia's most famous athletic exports. But Nash provides more than name recognition – the design and philosophy of the club grew partly from the basketball star's own visions regarding health and fitness. Steve Nash Sports Club emphasizes not only a healthy body, but a healthy mind and well-rounded lifestyle, along with a commitment to environmental sustainability.
Green Ethics
The club's ethics start with way the building is designed. The club was built following LEED standards; flooring and paneling are made from renewable or recyclable materials, and lighting and appliances are all energy efficient to reduce carbon emissions. Not only that, but the club also contributes to the Steve Nash Foundation, which supports programs offering services to children affected by poverty, illness, or abuse, focusing both on Vancouver and abroad.
Facilities and Training
But the ethics and design of the Steve Nash Sports Club are practically the icing on the cake. Fitness and healthy-living enthusiasts alike will find amenities to suit their needs on-site. Over 38 thousand square feet of facilities are available to members, featuring state of the art equipment, yoga and pilates classes, massage services, a sauna and pro shop. Training and instruction are also provided by staff, through personal training programs, boot camps, running clubs, and indoor cycling classes.
