How many times in your life do you get to sit and have an amazing meal in your ski gear? Located up in the Whistler Alpine, Steeps Grill offers a unique mountaintop dining experience. Rather than the usual burger and pizza fare you’ll find at ski resorts, Steeps restaurant has a West-Coast inspired menu, with items like smoked salmon chowder, Dungeness crab cakes and British Columbia Chinook salmon.
Wine program
In keeping with the West Coast theme, Steeps’ wine selection is completely B.C. You’ll find some of the most popular local wines: See Ya Later Ranch, Iniskillin, Sumac Ridge and Jackson Triggs. For sommeliers in training, Steeps offers a Winemaker’s Après, which runs from 2p.m. to 4.p.m. on select days throughout the winter. Each après features a different B.C. vineyard. The ticket includes an info session with the winemaker and a five-course meal with wine pairings. Although this is a winter program, Steeps is open during the summer offering wine tastings and lunch.
Sustainability
Steeps Grill is owned by the ski area Whistler Blackcomb. The company is dedicated to environmental initiatives, recycling more than 80 per cent of its total food and beverage containers. Steeps also works with B.C. food suppliers from Pemberton and other areas to provide its meat, seafood and fruit and vegetables. The restaurant is also a member of Ocean Wise, a conservation program organized through the Vancouver Aquarium.
