Profile

Sexy Design District Vibe
his stylish spot in the heart of Victoria’s design district fits right in with its attractive décor and sexy vibe. The focus of the long, narrow room is on the sleek bar that’s home to an impressive wall of spirits from around the world. The burnt orange walls are adorned with dramatic gold-framed mirrors and bright, bold paintings of fresh produce. Guests can sit at the L-shaped bar or at bamboo tables that perfectly compliment the rustic wood floors and exposed wood beams of the old building. Loungy music and candlelight complete the experience.

Refined Food Fit For Sharing
bruschetta, crab cakes, Albacore tuna and mussels. There’s always a tasty selection of seasonal mains like beer-braised short ribs with spinach and red onion marmalade, and prawn Escabeche with cilantro, lemongrass and chilies. Solomon’s specialty is its superb cheese and meat boards, which feature decadent selections from B.C. and Europe. Solomon’s is also a popular place for weekend brunch and offers refined dishes like bresaola-stuffed mashed potato pancakes, quiche and capicollo or fresh crab eggs Benny.

Inventive Drinks and Worldly Choices
Lounge owner/mixologist Solomon Siegel can often be seen behind his bar, mixing up affordable cocktails using top-shelf spirits and fresh juices. More than a dozen drinks were created by Solomon himself and can’t be tasted elsewhere, such as the Tattooed Curiosity (spiced rum, Galliano, Curiosity Cola). There’s also a long list of beers that shuns the common for the great, with about 50 choices ranging from Belgium lambic to local lager. The spirits selection is also superb and offers worldly choices of absinthe, grappa, bourbon, mezcal, Cachaça and scotch among others. And if you like your brunch boozy, Solomon’s is a great place to get your groove on with choices like the Bacon ’n’ Eggs, which features bacon-washed Bourbon and maple liqueur.
