Since 1994, Solly’s has been serving up home cooking from their three Vancouver locations and through their extensive catering service. A family business built on secret recipes, Solly’s beckons those from near and far with their creative sandwiches, soups like mom used to make and rich pastries, baked fresh daily, on-location. Antique furniture, deep, rich wood counters and tables, warm colours and inviting sounds make Solly’s a great choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their portions are generous and, as any of the friendly faces behind the counter will tell you, always meet strict “Jewish Mother” standards.
Classics Done Right
Solly’s is known for their bagels: made without eggs, boiled and baked the traditional way, they are cholesterol-free and available individually or for wholesale. But they’ve also made a name for themselves with their pastries, such as their famous cinnamon buns (regularly voted best in town!), rugoleh (in chocolate, almond, poppy seed and jam) and variety of knish. Of the many favourites on their menu, the classic “Shmear” is always a good choice. For just a couple of dollars, you get your choice of flavour for both bagel and their delicious homemade cream cheese, such as lox, dill, herb or plain, and they really spread it on thick. Before lunch, “Shmears” are on special and come with a steaming hot cup of their organic coffee, which always includes one refill.
Take-out with a Twist
From a family gathering of 10 to a corporate party of 100, Solly’s offers a wide array of catering options which can all be up or downsized to meet your needs. Platter options include: lox, breakfast, salad and “Shmear”, sliced deli meats and fruit and pastry for dessert. They also serve an “express lunch” service for those in a rush – simply fax over your order 15 minutes before you arrive and your brown bag will be ready and waiting.
