Treasures under glass
Like the Mulberry House Gallery across the street, the Shaughnessy Antique Gallery houses the hard work of a number of dealers under one roof. It's comprised of a collection of glass display cases, each filled with offerings from different sellers. The range of items for sale is enough to wile away any afternoon.
Items offered
Included in the items for sale is china, lots of china - including complete sets. From the very collectable chintz patterns to the ever-popular florals, you'll find a vast selection to choose from. Silver also abounds. There are also Asian artifacts, and the requisite amount of general brick-a-brack. It's best to pace yourself when wandering between the cases, however, as there's more loot stashed in the basement.
What lies beneath
On the lower floor, furniture and other larger items are offered in groupings by several dealers. In addition to dining room sets and large comfy chairs, there are many other items that would be hard-pressed to find their way into the narrow glass cabinets that line the upper floor. A wide selection of framed pictures is on display both upstairs and down, as well as along the walls of the stairway.
