The West Vancouver School District, also known as School District No. 45, is responsible for implementing student programs throughout the municipality of West Vancouver. This residential suburb of 45,000, located northwest of Vancouver, is nestled between mountains and the ocean, and has the highest socio-economic standing in the province. Its population is mostly made up of professionals, industrialists and pensioners.

This School District serves the communities of West Vancouver, Lions Bay and Bowen Island. They supervise over 6, 800 students from a total of 17 schools. The schools in West Vancouver are connected to a high-speed network creating a unique hi-tech learning & teaching community. Each school is designed to be accessible for the physically disabled.
Student Programs
In order to encourage students to develop and acquire the knowledge, skills and mind-set necessary for social and economic involvement, the District has included the following in its curriculum: Career Development, CHILD Program, A.C.C.E.S.S., International Baccalaureate, and Advance Placement. Everyone is aware that great academic student programs alone do not make a great school. The extensive athletic, cultural and community programs provided by School District No. 45 reflects a well-rounded curriculum mix. Besides the extended programs, the school offers additional facilities to allow children to thrive in these areas. For instance, West Vancouver Secondary School is home to a 500-seat community theatre used for the school’s drama and music programs as well as community performances.
