Authentic Tastes of Thailand
Well known for its authentic Thai food and solid friendly service the Sawasdee Thai Restaurant was the first to bring Thai food to the Lower Mainland. The menu features all the Thai classics and sweet, hot, sour and coconut milk flavours Thai food is famous for. The stuffed-spiced chicken wings, papaya salad, chicken with cashews and Cho Muang chicken dumplings are crowd pleasers, but the house specialty has to be the Crying Tiger Beef. This medium rare-sliced and marinated beef in an extra hot and spicy sauce is truly what put Sawasdee on the map. Those who prefer things with a little less heat can have it that way as well as spicy dishes on the menu are offered in four levels of spiciness. The restaurant also offers a host of tasty vegetarian choices.
Award Winning Food
The dining room décor is a little more West Coast casual than traditional Thai as Sawasdee prefers to let the food’s authenticity speak for itself. Sawasdee took home Silver in the Best Thai category of the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards in 2000 and Bronze in the Best South Asian category at the 2007 awards. The restaurant also made the top four in the Georgia Straight Reader’s Choice Best Thai Golden Plate Awards in 2006.
