Tucked away on the second floor, accessible through a secluded courtyard and a short flight or stairs (or a quick elevator ride), Savoury Coast will transport you from the frenetic hustle of Robson Street to a soothing gastronomical haven. The beautiful dining room is reminiscent of a rustic Tuscan villa. Walls are warm, in shades of ochre, brick red and brown. Tiled terra cotta floors and frescoed pillars add an elegant touch.
In the Cucina
The menu spans favourite Italian dishes with touches of westcoast flair. For appetizers, try the mushroom bruschetta, topped with wild and cultivated mushrooms and cheese, or the saffron lime Dungeness crab cake, served with saffron aioli. True to its Italian roots, the place serves magnificent pizza dishes, including the duck pizza, with shredded duck confit; prosciutto pizza, topped with roasted garlic, asparagus and rosemary; and mushroom pizza. A personal favourite is the veal osso bucco, a tender, fall-of-the-bones marrow atop a plate of creamy, saffron-rich risotto. Bread and pies are baked fresh daily in a wood-fire oven.
Dinner for Two or Party for Ten
Savoury Coast’s prime Robson Street location guarantees good people watching. Couples dining together can hold hands at a window table overlooking the busy shopping street. In the summer, the restaurant’s expansive terrace opens up to hold another 100 patrons. The generous space and beautiful interiors make Savoury Coast a great spot for parties, family reunions and corporate parties.
