A Night at the Harem
A split-level restaurant known for its flair for the imaginative, A-list celebrities have been known to flock to Sanafir for its excellent tapas menu. The Moroccan-inspired decor features rich, bold fabrics, exotic lanterns hanging from the vaulted ceilings and plush leather beds, which all combine to enhance the Arabian night experience. Sanafir – which means “meeting place” in Arabic – has developed a reputation as a good place to rub elbows with Vancouver’s movers and shakers, while enjoying the exotic tastes of North Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

A Meal Fit for a King
Choose from a dazzling selection of chicken, tuna, beef, prawn, lamb, scallop, salmon and pork-based tapas, sure to enthrall the senses. Other options include seafood, sushi, fish, beef, lamb, and pork dishes. Kanafa-wrapped tiger prawns with watercress dipping sauce, seared coho salmon medallion with smoked bacon, monad lentils and candied carrots and red wine-braised short rib smoked bacon with dupuis lentils and chanterelle mushrooms are always favourites. For vegetarians, try the marinated artichoke stuffed with Israeli couscous or the warm bread salad with spring vegetables and toasted pecans.

Party of Two or Five or Twenty
With its two levels and 142 seats, there is no shortage of space for big or small parties, whether it’s for business or otherwise. The lounge, which overlooks the dining room, seats 60 people in an atmosphere that mimics the traditional trade markets of the Middle East - low seating, rich fabrics and silk pillows galore. Sanafir is no stranger to large groups and has hosted many high-brow pre and post parties in its time. The seating is decidedly social, making it an easy choice for typically rigid events that need some livening up. Expect friendly, knowledgeable staff who take their time to explain the menu. Be sure to fill out a comment card on your way out for a chance to win a $100 gift certificate.
