Elevated Indian Cuisine
The word that comes to mind when you enter Salam Bombay is “elegant”. Tables are covered in white tablecloths and impeccably set. White walls are accented by gold-toned artwork, including one mural-sized piece that stretches across the back wall. Windows overlooking the busy corner of Burrard and Alberni Streets provide an added dimension to the spacious room. During the day, the room fills with light; at night, city neon compliments glowing lights. Low-slung, saffron-coloured couches define the lounge area in front of the bar – a perfect place for a cocktail before the meal.

Traditional Yet Unexpected
The food is inspired by recipes from the heart of India. The menu features traditional, yet contemporary, meat and seafood dishes. Indian restaurant-standards on the menu include biryani, lamb curry, and butter chicken, but more adventurous diners will enjoy Salam Bombay’s rich, spicy seafood, meat, and game offerings. For something completely different, try something from the tandoori menu – selections include musk ox, venison and kangaroo, marinated in spices and yogurt and cooked to perfection in the clay oven.

Rich and Satisfying
Salam Bombay is open for lunch and dinner. It’s a great choice for a business or first-date meal, because unlike most Indian restaurants that present main courses as shared dishes and require separate ordering of rice and bread, Salam Bombay plates the main courses as complete meals. But if you’re still hungry after a delicious serving of Halibut Masala or Vegetable Jalfrazie, you can always share a dessert, such as a Kadali Banana Fritter or Pistachio Kulfi.
