Above street level overlooking busy Broadway, is an oasis of tasty food and great company in a lively atmosphere. There’s always a party vibe at the Rugby Beach Club Grille with big screen TVs featuring all the big games and DJs spinning Wednesday to Saturday. The look is upscale sporty casual and the vibe is friendly and up-tempo. In the warmer months, the outdoor terrace is a great place to snag a table.
West Coast Wonders
A popular spot for weekend brunch, Rugby Beach Club offers some of the best eggs benny in town, including varieties with caviar and lamb. Always busy for business lunches during the week, innovative sandwiches and salads come flying out of the kitchen in quick succession. At dinnertime, the lights dim, the candles are lit, the games are on and the steaks are grilling. Carnivores will be delighted by the choices from the grill, which include sterling silver sirloin medallions, New York steaks and filet mignon. There are also ample choices from the sea, including B.C. salmon, halibut from the Queen Charlottes and Hawaii ahi tuna. All ingredients are local whenever possible and they are always of the highest quality. For a great deal, stop by for one of the feature menu nights like lobster Monday and seafood Sunday. If you save room for dessert, you can order from the chocolate bar, which offers several sweet indulgences.
Healthy Kick
The menu also accommodates the health conscious Vancouver diner. No matter what kind of kick you are on—Atkins, low-carb, vegetarian—you can order with ease. The menu indicates choices that are “heart healthy” to help you choose your meal. There’s also a juice bar with a variety of freshly squeezed beverages.
From the Bar
While rugby players may be known for their uncanny ability to throw back the brews, wine is the feature of the bar menu at Rugby Beach Club. There are more than 40 by-the-glass options and just as many bottles. The sommelier takes great care to have a collection of world-class wines from a variety of regions. No bottles are factory produced and many are produced by hand from small lots. The informative menu includes ratings from Wine Spectator to help you make an informed decision.
