The Richmond Night Market began modestly in 2000 and has grown to be a bustling event every year. The market is open on weekends from the end of May until early September. Each week, hundreds of visitors stop by the market as a 400,000 sq ft parking lot is transformed into a full-fledged fair. Visit over 400 vendors selling everything from clothes to CDs to trinkets of all kinds. You never know what you’ll find on a trip to the Night Market. And don’t forget to practice those haggling skills!
Cheap Eats and Great Treats
A trip to the Night Market would not be complete without trying some of the yummy foods as there’s a whole section dedicated to delectable delights. Here, you’ll find food from all over Asia, including Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisines. Take your pick from curried fish balls, dragon candy and the ever-so-popular bubble tea. The portions are small (and so are the prices!), so it’s easy to try a bit of everything. It can get crowded though, so be sure to secure a seat on the few picnic benches or be prepared to enjoy your food on the run.
Something for All Ages
The Night Market’s main stage features nightly events and concerts that are fun for all ages. Take a break from the shopping and food, and sit down for a lively karaoke competition or a dance show. Audience participation is always welcomed. There’s no better place to experience the city’s rich multi-cultural atmosphere. Check the market’s schedule for upcoming events and special guests.
