Take a store name from the title of a David Bowie song and you'd better be ready for comparisons. Rebel Rebel manages this with clothes that are stylish, clever, always evolving and a bit daring– much like its namesake. Started in 2001 by two fashion savvy friends, the boutique has become a staple of the trendy Lower Johnson fashion strip. The owners share similar tastes in design, art, music and fashion and their aim is to create a mix of designer dresses, shoes, denim and local artwork not available anywhere else. Italian originals hang next to unusual samples from Asia and examples from the in-house, locally made La Poeme line.
Let's Dance
Clean Ikea-styled racks show off all the great clothes you'll need for a hot night at the club. Boxes of fab heels are stacked in tidy pyramids next to little dresses and slinky tops. Everyone will find something they look great in and there are plenty of choices for guys at Rebel Rebel, too. No Ziggy Stardust unitards, but clothes that are cooler than sports jerseys, Levis or stuffy business suits. Boys who shop here turn heads.

Life isn't all about parties and looking good. The folks at Rebel Rebel celebrate their independence by helping other local designers and personal causes. Their in-house design line is founded on the idea of being eco-friendly as well as loud, fun and feminine. They also work with nearby clubs and local designers to create fun events ranging from fashion shows to auctions of sneakers hand-decorated by local artists.
