Purple Garden is a hidden gem at the busy corner of Shelbourne and Cedar Hill Cross. Sometimes overlooked due to its underground home and parking lot entrance, this Chinese restaurant is well worth a visit. Inside, you’ll find an urban oasis with stonewalls, nature murals, lots of plants, lanterns and archways into the different rooms. The focus on feng shui is apparent from the arrangement of the tables to the relaxing colour scheme.
With dozens of different dishes available, you’ll surely find your favourite Chinese plate and discover something new at Purple Garden. Best known as the biggest Chinese buffet in town, the restaurant boasts more than 150 dishes, including favourites like Kung Po Pork and General Tao Chicken, and less common dishes like Lor Horn Ji. The buffet also includes soft drinks, coffee and lots of desserts! Takeout and delivery are available, and pickup orders even come with freebies like bonus spring rolls.
Great for Groups
Purple Garden’s serene split-level space offers plenty of rooms for groups, and all of the tables focus on the impressive buffet in the middle of the room. From dinner parties of six to wedding receptions of 100, Purple Garden can accommodate your group. In addition to the main buffet area, there’s also a private dining room that can be reserved for larger groups and parties. If you don’t want the buffet, you can choose from a variety of chef-designed group meals, or order individual dishes from the menu and create your own feast.
