Reminscent of French countryside, the bright, open room with tile floors, minimal in furnishings and design is Provence Mediterranean Grill. The restaurant embodies a casual atmosphere but after a taste of the menu, it’s understood that this French gem takes food very seriously. A busy bistro that does almost as much take-out business as in-house dining, Provence offers the best casual lunches and exquisite dinners at their Point Grey location. Led by chefs Jean Francis and Alessandra Quaglia, the couple has embarked on a culinary dream with Provence and sister French/Italian restaurant Provence Marinaside in Yaletown.
Mouthwatering Menus
All the finest and freshest tastes of the South of France are to be found here. From the selection of antipasti to pannini and foccacia at lunch to seafood entrees on the dinner menu, Provence serves up European delights. Emphasis is on freshness of ingredients and healthy dining for brunch, lunch and dinner. Deviating from these standard meals are also dessert, grand thé, group and picnic meal options. The counterpart to English Tea, grand thé is served between 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. six days a week with sweet and savoury pastries and sandwiches accompanying tea or coffee of course. Picnics by Provence offer three choices of set baskets that include a spread of antipastos, desserts, seasonal fruits, baguettes and beverages. (Perfect for an afternoon at Jericho Beach, Spanish Banks or the Fireworks – the namesakes of Provence’s picnic selections!)
Cellar of Wines
The extensive wine list is grouped into types such as merlots, chardonnays, rosés plus more, and focuses on vintages from the Provence region. With an excellent selection of wines by the glass and half-litre up to a long list of reserve wines, a perfect pairing with your meal can be made. House cocktails, beers and champagnes are also on offer for sweeter palates.
