Quaint, Welcoming Vibe
It could be the flower-filled patio with a fountain in the middle, or maybe it’s the warm colours and country-classy décor on the inside, or perhaps it’s the loft area up a set of wood stairs. One thing is for sure: Piccolo Restaurant is a welcoming place to enjoy a meal. Run by a friendly married couple, the tiny eatery in the village on Saanich Inlet is a favourite among locals and reservations are highly recommended.
A Taste of the Mediterranean
Simple, fresh and flavourful — the dishes at Piccolo Restaurant marry Mediterranean and West Coast cuisine beautifully. Diners can choose from a variety of artfully prepared dishes from land or sea. Popular dishes have included braised lamb shanks with wild mushroom risotto and baby root veggies, and halibut with lemon parsley risotto, asparagus and strawberry-almond sauce. The Italian influence is evident in the pasta dishes, which include indulgent options featuring rich cheeses, flavourful meats and memorable sauces. There’s also an extensive menu of gourmet, house made pizzas that are also popular for takeout.
Fresh Island Ingredients
You can taste the freshness at Piccolo Restaurant and that’s because all of the dishes are made from scratch every day using almost 100-per-cent local, organic ingredients. The seasonal vegetables are from Saanich fields, the meat is humanly raised on local farms and the Pacific fish are sustainbly harvested. On the menu, Piccolo tells diners more about where their food is coming from, and the servers are always happy to answer questions about the restaurant’s 100-Mile approach. The menu changes seasonally to reflect what’s growing in the fields and farms of the Island, so you can always expect something new!
