Old English pub atmosphere
A friendly, welcoming atmosphere awaits you at Oak Bay’s unofficial community centre, the Penny Farthing. The cozy, old English-style pub features four fireplaces, rich wood furnishings, exposed brick walls and Victorian etched glass doors and windows. On nice days, the place to be is on the courtyard patio, where you can often catch live music. In the games room, you can play darts or bet on the big game on the telly. The pub is a great place to host a party, and can accommodate groups of up to 150.

Gastropub fusion fare
From pub grub to gastropub gourmet, the Penny Farthing boasts an eclectic menu of fusion favourites. On Sundays, you can even get a three-course roast dinner, done up just like the pubs in England. International and West Coast influences can be seen in dishes like grilled salmon salad, coconut curry and thin-crust pizza. Boozy desserts are also a hit. There’s a focus on fresh and seasonal ingredients, which come from local sources whenever possible.

Home of the perfect pint
The Penny Farthing prides itself on pouring the perfect pint every time. The pub boasts the best selection of imported draft beers in the city with an emphasis on Irish favourites. Twenty draft beers are also available and there’s a full selection of wines and spirits. The selection of whiskeys is also impressive, with more than three-dozen different varieties.
