The women at Pacific Midwifery Practice began this group in 1997. Since then, they have been helping women experience safe and fulfilling pregnancies. Their services start as soon as a woman finds out she’s pregnant and extends through labour, birth and then on to postpartum care. Special attention is paid to make sure the client feels supported, safe and trusting of her team. The wellness philosophy of this group helps makes the experience a healthy choice for families.
Midwife clinic
Located in the lovely False Creek area, with views over the water, the office is a cozy space for families to feel welcome in. The group has DVDs, photos and books for clients to read and borrow for their own use. They also encourage families to look for other resources during pregnancy, whether it is pre-natal yoga classes or baby groups. They work in conjunction with doctors and hospitals to make sure that your care is complete as possible.
How a midwife can help
Midwifery services are covered for all B.C. residents by MSP (Medical Services Plan), but you cannot also consult with your doctor. The plan will only cover one primary care provider. Your team will answer any questions you have, develop a relationship to make your experience as comfortable as possible, and be on call for you 24 hours a day. The group are all registered midwives, so they offer their services for an at-home birth or birth at a hospital, depending on each client’s preference.
