The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts was the first private training institute in Canada to have a student-operated, fine dining restaurant and bakeshop on the premises. They offer two diploma-granting programs, Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts. The course of study is intended for students who want to develop hands-on skills so that they can be productive in a professional setting immediately upon graduation.
Programs for Every Student
In addition to the professional programs for students who plan to make a career out of their passion for food and for excellence, the Institute offers short programs as well. If your inner chef feels inspired, you can take Casual Gourmet classes, Wine classes, Cake Decorating classes and they even have classes for teens. Or arrange for a private class on a topic of your choice.
Enjoy relaxed yet elegant white linen service, with a marina view from every table. The restaurant seating capacity is 105, with a private room available for smaller functions. The dining room features market-fresh daily menus created by their talented Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts students, managed by their European-trained Chef Instructors and Restaurant Instructors. The restaurant provides views of the catering kitchen, restaurant kitchen, pastry kitchen and chocolate studio, and baking kitchen. Choose a 3-course menu or order ‘à la carte.’ The restaurant is available for onsite catered events, including breakfast meetings, luncheons, afternoon tea, dinner, or a cocktail reception, with a menu tailored to suit your taste and budget.
The Bakeshop & Café
Each day, the Bakeshop offers a variety of freshly baked artisan breads, croissants, Danishes, biscotti, muffins, cookies, pastries and desserts, tarts and cakes. Additionally, they offer a daily menu of savory items including soup, salads, sandwiches and appetizers to eat in or take away. Custom pick-up orders are welcomed for wedding and special-occasion cakes, pastries and desserts, appetizers and savory items.
