As you walk into the cozy restaurant on Main, the scent of spices fills your nostrils, making your mouth water. Prints and paintings line the walls depicting the traditional way of life in India. Meanwhile, Indian music plays softly, setting the mood for a relaxing and genuine experience. It’s as if you’ve walked into India, but you haven’t. It’s the next best thing, Nirvana Restaurant.
Authentic Cuisine
Everyone loves butter chicken and tandooris. Nirvana’s clientele is no different. While these are the restaurant’s most popular dishes, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t made in a truly Indian way. The slight difference is that Nirvana has lightened their fare by using less oil, making the meals healthier. Most dishes are made in the North Indian style with specialties from around the country such as the delicious Goan fish and prawn curry. Usually sold as street fare in India, pakoras and samosas make tantalizing appetizers at Nirvana. There are plenty of vegetarian and vegan specialties too. Try the unique Bhartha, baked eggplant simmered in ginger, garlic, onions, tomatoes, coriander, turmeric and peas with masala. And if you’re not sure what you want, Nirvana offers combination dinners so you can try a little of everything. The Nirvana dinner offers up Lamb Rogan Josh, Alu Gobi, Tandoori Chicken Tikka and much more. Don’t forget to pair your meal with a chai tea or mango lassi. Or, for a twist, try one of Nirvana’s original cocktails like the Balle Balle Chai or the Mango Mantra.
