A Steveston Tradition
Since opening its doors in 1998, Nikaido Gifts has been a perfect fit for quaint Steveston Village in Richmond, carving a niche for itself as a premier gift and teashop. Housed in the landmark Hepworth building, the oldest standing building in town that still retains original bricks shipped in from England, Nikaido retains strong ties to the community while at the same time, expanding its client base to tourists and locals from other parts of the Lower Mainland. From the beginning, the affable owners wanted to cater to locals – and it does. But it also draws its fair share of visitors on the hunt for unique gifts and tea products.

Tea Time
Nikaido in Japanese is a common family name and honouring Steveston’s history as a Japanese-Canadian fishing village, the store carries Japanese ceramic ware like sushi plates, tea pots, tea cups and of course, tea. Nikaido carries its own line of tea, imported in bulk and packaged right in Steveston Village. There are 78 teas for aficionados to choose from, with flavour and descriptions clearly labeled on the packaging and samples housed in beautiful black canisters, available for sniffing. Nikaido also features seasonal teas during spring, winter and Christmas time.

Thyme Line
Nikaido also has the most comprehensive stock of Thyme personal care and home products, carrying all of the popular company’s 18 lines – from lotions and soaps to perfumes and colognes. Other beautiful giftware includes unique greeting cards, high-quality wrapping paper, Moleskin notebooks, journals and imported French soap.
