Calming Experience
Like the sound of its name, the Moonwater Birthing and Wellness Centre is all about providing a space of peace and calm for the mother-to-be. Located in Fort Langley inside a 102-year-old heritage home, the soothing colours, original hardwood floors and comfortable couches provide a warm atmosphere for women and their partners or children. The waiting room is fully equipped with toys for little ones waiting with mom and a lending library for patients to browse through.

The Midwives
Shelley-Ann Clarke and Natasha Sara are the two midwives offering their expertise in the Langley, Fort Langley, Surrey and Abbotsford areas. Natasha Sara got her formal training at the Seattle Midwifery School and opened up a midwifery practice in Washington before returning to her home province of B.C. to work at Moonwater. Shelley-Ann has been a midwife since 2005 and got her training at Laurentian University in Ontario. Her desire to become a midwife was sparked when she saw her cousin give birth in high school.

Service at your Doorstep
Open since 2004, the Moonwater offers full midwifery services including, pre-natal classes, regular appointments with the mother during her pregnancy and a full six-week post birth care period in which the midwife comes to the new mom’s home to help support her through the healing and those first steps into motherhood. Above all, Moonwater emphasizes their goal to, “empower women through their pregnancy and birth and allow them to be active decision makers in the process.”
