The globe-forming water fountain in the shared concourse outside Moldovanos Greek Restaurant may distract from the business behind it. But as far as attention-getting distractions go, the fountain isn’t the only one you’ll encounter on your visit. Upon entering Moldovanos, what first grabs your interest are the expansive murals on either wall. It’s as though you’ve walked onto sun-soaked Greek fields. And, if you happen to visit on a sunny day, the large glass skylight covering most of the restaurant intensifies the experience.
Come Hungry
The price of a meal at Moldovanos is very affordable, especially considering the portion you receive. Most meals come with rice, potato, pita bread, tzaziki and Greek or Caesar salad as well as the main. Their Greek Village, a lamb shank in tomato sauce with garlic and other spices, is quite popular. There’s also the Kleftico, a lamb shoulder marinated in a mustard based sauce. And of course they serve calamari, which you can get as an appetizer or an entrée. Then there’s the traditional souvlaki. Prawn, chicken and lamb are available in two sizes to meet a larger or smaller appetite. You can also order take-out with the same sized portions!
Plenty of Vegetarian Options
Quite often vegetarians can have trouble eating out. This, however, is not much of a problem at Moldovanos. Dolmades, rice and spices rolled in grape leaves, are a great appetizer. Or try the saganaki, the pan-fried Kefalotiri cheese. Plus there’s a great vegetarian platter that includes spanakopita, homous and dolmades as well as rice, potato, salad and pita bread! And don’t forget to try the homemade baklava for dessert.
