Coffee And Community In The Gay Village
Melriches really bustles on weekends and during peak periods during the week. The coffee shop specializes in all day breakfasts, snacks, light meals and a range of coffees from Bean Around The World. The atmosphere is casual with a boho edge, and the place is usually buzzing with conversation. The crowd tends to be interesting and colourful: certainly not what you would describe as conservative!

Pastries and Beer On Tap
The pastries at Melriches are baked onsite in the wee hours of the morning, ensuring that they are fresh. All day breakfasts are available, well, all day, but don’t expect traditional bacon and eggs. The coffee shop does not have a grill, so breakfast comes in the form of tasty and filling bread, bagel, panini and croissant sandwiches. Various salads and fruit cups are available. So, unexpectedly, is beer. A couple of brands are available on tap, setting Melriches apart from other cafés on the strip.

Celebrating Local Culture
The management at Melriches supports local singers, writers and artists. Someone is usually performing most weekends, and the coffee shop is expanding the number of mic nights for writers. Melriches is also a hive of activity because it is right next door to Little Sister’s, Canada’s largest LGBT bookstore, which sees a lot of traffic.
