Profile Last Updated: May 23, 2008
Hair mavens Dan Nyguen and Linda Refosco are well known in Vancouver for being highly coveted and hard to book thanks to their celebrity roster. In 2007, the team set up a salon of likeminded stylists to grown their business and the product is Lure, a sleek salon in downtown Vancouver. Nyguen is best known for creating Avril Lavigne’s well-photographed blonde, wavy tresses; Kristen Dunst’s look for People’s 50 most beautiful people spread; and Sarah McLachlan’s style-setting crop. The Vidal Sassoon Academy-trained Nyguen is one of the city’s premier hair and makeup artists and has built a team of others in his ranks to give Vancouverites the opportunity to get the celebrity treatment.
Full-Service Salon
Lure is a high-end, full-service salon that offers cuts, styles, colouring makeup and styling for special events. There are three levels of pricing to reflect the experience of the hair artists from which you can choose. Brow shaping, makeup application and manicures are also available. If you get a cut and need your fringe trimmed within four weeks of your appointment, just pop by Lure and they’ll do it for free! And before you leave, you can pick up products by some of the most coveted lines — Divines from Italy and New York’s Bumble and Bumble — and recreate the salon experience at home.
Stylish Surroundings
Lure is truly alluring and offers an oasis of calm in the middle of the city. The décor is simple, yet stunning and the interior design is another credit for Vancouver’s celebrated BOXinteriors. Funky brown wallpaper and green walls accent the mainly white space. Floor to ceiling windows make people watching in the heart of downtown a pleasure for guests and the natural light streaming in helps stylists make the right colour combinations. The chairs at the colour station are arranged in a circle, so you can chat with fellow salon-goers while your locks are being treated. And while many people may look forward to catching up on their celebrity gossip magazines at the salon, now you can catch Sex and the City and other hit shows on personalized televisions.
