Profile
Celebration of food
This intimate restaurant was opened by renowned New York chef Daniel Boulud and Executive Chef Dale MacKay to celebrate their passion for good food. Soft lights and dark-wood wall paneling, luxurious carpeting, crushed velvet banquettes and smoked glass makes up the decor. The cuisine stands out among the others, made with the best local ingredients and prepared with a heavy French influence and some Asian aspects thrown in. Formal dining with exceptional service is expected and delivered at Lumiere.
Try a little, taste a lot
Guests can order a la carte, from the bar menu or try a testing menu with many courses. Menu options include three-, six- and nine-course Prix Fixe options, a six-course Vegetarian feast or the six-course Chef’s Menu (six courses). Meals are market-based, as the menu choices reflect what is fresh and in season in the Lower Mainland. An equally impressive and lengthy wine list is offered along with a sommelier service for those who have difficulty choosing the vintage that will go perfectly with their meal. For visitors who want to try the Lumiere experience in a more casual atmosphere, the bar and lounge area is elegantly relaxed. But, if you are in for a variety of foods, the a la carte and tasting menus are only available in the dining room.
Illuminating Lumiere honours
Since opening in 1995, Lumiere has been hailed as the place to eat in downtown Vancouver. The well-respected Zagat guide has bestowed the title of Most Popular Restaurant in Vancouver to this well-deserving establishment. Receiving the designation of Relais Gourmand in 2000 – one that is only given to select establishments across the globe - Lumiere is irrefutably a gourmet experience that should not be missed.
