Step up to Lolita’s Restaurant, on Davie, and you can tell you’re in for a fun meal. The outside of the restaurant is a deep burgundy and it has a rustic and comfortable feel to it. Inside the bustling restaurant, there is a massive bar where you can sit, eat and drink, of course. The small tables, which fill the rest of the busy room, are bustling and full of energy, while the wonderful smells from the kitchen make you want more. The decor is funky Latin American, with a lot of wood, mosaic tiles, cement walls, flowers and colours.
Dining, Latin Style
Classic Latin favourites, made from fresh ingredients, are featured on the menu. For brunch, try the popular Huervos Rancheros (eggs with corn tortillas, black beans, plantains and pico de galla fresh crema). Maybe you’d prefer a traditional Mexican-style sandwich, called a torta. You can even get a North American classic – eggs benedict – with a Latin twist, like guacamole, salsa or fire roasted corn. The dinner menu has three categories: bocaditos (appetizers), ensaladas and sopas (salads and soups) and platos especialies (main dishes). There are so many delicious options, such as sopa de tortilla, wild mushroom quesadilla and chile rellano. With meat, chicken, fish and vegetarian options on the menu, there is sure to be a dish to please everyone.
Drinks, Latin Style
If you are a tequila lover, you’ll be wowed by the extensive drink list at Lolita’s. With over 20 different kinds of tequila, you better have your drinking hat on! For those who stay away from the salt-and-lime shooters, there is also a well selected wine list, featuring local and Californian wines by the glass and bottle. Of course, sangria, a special Latin wine with fruit, is on the menu. Bottoms up!
