Playschool and Pampers Crowd Welcome
Welcome to Little Nest, a place where the big birds as well as their little chicks are welcome to roost and enjoy lunch, brunch or coffee with other nesting parents. Noticing many of the cafes on Commercial Drive didn’t seem like the kind of places that encouraged the playschool and pampers crowd, the minds behind Little Nest sought to create an environment where families feel welcome. Drawing from the observation that in other cultures, going for food is a family affair, Little Nest creates a warm, welcoming environment, where families can sit enjoy a good, wholesome meal.

Lots of Room for Wide Rides and Careening Tots
A long family dinner-style dining room table anchors the simple, spacious room. Clean white walls are accented by finished wood beams and large ceiling to floor windows let in plenty of light, even on cloudier days. Thanks to careful placement of the furniture, there’s more than enough room to navigate even the widest stroller through the tables and comfy chairs, as well as plenty of room for the kids to hoof and careen around, as well as a play area at the back of the space to keep them busy so mom and dad can tuck into their lunch. An open air kitchen and large black chalkboards round out the room.

Good Food Takes Time
The perfect place to linger over brunch on a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon, Little Nest is also a welcome spot to enjoy a quiet breakfast or lunch on any given weekday. They offer a big breakfast, with delicious favorites like French toast and frittatas. A rotating menu of pasta dishes and soups is offered every few days. Popular favorites include the cheese plate, with milder options for the younger folks, and the classic breakfast fun-food: toast soldiers and boiled eggs. Little Nest leans towards organic ingredients in its dishes, and boasts a fine selection of fair-trade coffees and teas.
