If you like to frequent restaurants that have a touch of class about them, chances are ‘Lift’ will suit you to a tee. Voted by the reader’s of ‘Vancouver Courier’ as ‘Silver Best New Restaurant of 2005’, along with awards for ‘Best Patio’, ‘Best New Patio’ and ‘Best New View’ from the ‘Vancouver Sun’, it’s hardly a restaurant that lacks in prestige. Their menu offers a substantial range of what’s described as “progressive West Coast cuisine”, with everything from small, tapas-like dishes through to meaty main courses, oysters and sushi.
Brunching
There’s also an impressive brunch menu that offers plenty of hangover cures, including a mouth-watering Belgian waffle with lemon yogurt, granola and fresh fruit parfait or, for those of you who like to follow the example set by the English when it comes to brunch, there’s the ‘Coal Harbour Breakfast’, which includes double-smoked sausage, 2 strips of center-cut back bacon, 2 scrambled eggs, a potato pancake and whole-wheat toast. As for drinks, their wine list has been carefully selected to suit the various foods on offer, and there are cocktails as well as hot alcoholic beverages to choose from as well. In short, there’s plenty there to lift your spirits.
Easy on the Eye
Both the interior dining area of ‘Lift’ and its upper and lower patios are attractions in themselves. Inside, the polished wood floorboards and trendy furniture creates a sleek, sexy atmosphere with a decidedly modern feel. Out on the deck there are two outdoor fireplaces to keep you warm whilst you eat and to add a sense of romance to your evening, which, due to the stunning view of Stanley Park and the North Shore Mountains, could hardly get any more romantic. All in all, a thoroughly sophisticated eating and drinking experience.
