Profile Last Updated: January 06, 2009
This area isn’t thriving with Japanese restaurants, but Kyoto doesn’t win by default. It is the recipient of the 2002 Best of Surrey Readers Choice Award, and has been serving up reliably good sushi since 1998. There is enough room to fit 20-50 people if you want to reserve the space for a special function, yet it is small enough for an intimate date night. Children are also welcome, with their favourite choices listed in a special section of the menu.
Sushi, Sashimi and Udon
If you’re not in the mood for sushi, there are plenty of non-Japanese choices on the appetizer list. Go for the BBQ chicken wings, scallop and bacon skewers or BBQ salmon skin. If sushi is on the mind, start with appetizer sashimi or dig right into the assorted sashimi plate. Donburi is available in vegetable, salmon, beef, chicken and many other variations, while udon noodles are mixed with seafood, tempura prawns and vegetables. For those looking to share, some of the bento boxes are good for two with small appetites, but there are also two options specially designed for those to share
Get It at Home
Although ordering from home means that you can’t choose from the suitable red, white and house wine list, this is still a great way to order your sushi without getting out of your pajamas. Delivery is free right to your door (call for delivery areas). You can also call beforehand and pick up your order on the way home.
