Unlike some adult-oriented coffee joints, every aspect of Dunbar’s Kokopelli Café was designed with babes (and their mamas, papas and caregivers, too) in mind. The front door is wide enough to accommodate strollers (even the double and off-road models); there’s a large, well-stocked, clean play area with tables nearby so parents can keep an eye on their tots; and the washroom features both a change table and kid-height sink.
Food Fight
You won’t find anyone — child or adult — throwing their food around in Kokopelli. It’s too delicious to waste! Besides offering an assortment of hot and cold, brewed and blended beverages, the menu features fresh and tasty light meals (grilled wraps with tossed green salad, soup and home-baked buns, and croissants stuffed with ham, scrambled eggs and cheese), an ample kids’ menu (grilled cheese sandwiches and home-made mac ’n cheese served with crunchy baby carrots), and even a well-stocked take-out freezer filled with yummy meat pies, quiches, chili and lasagna busy parents can take home and heat up for supper.
Best of the Best
It’s not just parents and tots who are raving about kid-friendly Kokopelli. The café has been recognized as one of the best coffee joints in the city by others in the know. As runner up as Best Coffee Bar in the Georgia Straight’s 2007 Golden Plate Awards and Best Coffee Bar and Best Kept Secret in the Vancouver Courier’s 2006 Stars of Vancouver Awards, Kokopelli Café has certainly earned its rep as la crème de la crème in the Lower Mainland.
