For lunch, after work snacks or dinner, Kayan Mediterranean Cuisine has enough aromatic selections to leave you drooling. The Middle Eastern focus covers favourites like shawarmas, kebabs, falafels and baba ghanouj. They also serve some tasty specialties that are hard to find elsewhere, such as dishes like freeke (grain topped with chicken or beef and mixed nuts), sheesh tawook (chicken skewers marinated in spices) and mezza for two (seven appetizers of your choice). Check out the buffet Tuesdays to Fridays from 11a.m. to 5p.m.
A Sip or Two
You certainly won’t go thirsty here. The drink menu covers just about everything. Domestic and imported beers are reasonably priced, and those who don’t partake can order an alcohol-free beer. Serious drinkers can choose from Jack Daniels and Johnny Walker scotch and whisky, a handful of vodka brands, and Jose Cuervo tequila. Wine by the glass is also featured, with Pinot blanc, grigio, gris and noir all available. Martinis and premiere alcohol like Jagermeister, brandy and gin cap off the drink menu.
Worth a Belly Dance
For those who believe they can’t dance, enjoy authentic live music and belly dancing by Middle Eastern artists. Friday and Saturday nights bring out the live performances that add a wonderful treat to the meal. This allows special events and occasions to be booked with unique entertainment options. If you’re so inclined, you can even ask the servers for more information about learning how to belly dance yourself: classes are held nearby and the restaurant provides a direct contact with them.
