Juicy Lucy’s has one of the best selections of juice in the city. All fruit and veggie choices and smoothies are whipped up fresh before your eyes and can be purchased in four sizes all the way up to a litre. There are 10 choices apiece on the fruit, veggie and smoothie menus, and all drinks can be enhanced with E3Live, wheatgrass, spirulina, whey protein or creatine. If you’re having a hard time deciding what kind of drink you’d like, you can learn more about their health virtues from the description on the menu. The “Iron Maiden” (which blends carrot, beet and spinach) is high in iron and great for your liver and kidneys, while the “Athlete’s Punch” (pineapple, banana and ginger) eases muscle cramps and inflammation and is full of electrolytes. You can also create your own juice and give it a clever name!
Solid Choices for Healthy Diets
For those not following the ever-popular raw juice diet, there are plenty of solid, healthy meal choices. Start your morning with a giant multi-grain waffle topped with fresh fruit and yogurt or an egg casserole full of veggies. For lunch, you can choose from a variety of wraps (with the option of seaweed instead of a tortilla), paninis, rice bowls, soups, gourmet flax rolls and sandwiches. There’s also an excellent selection of fresh salads that rely on fresh, local produce and seeds and beans for protein.
Welcoming, Educational Environment
Juicy Lucy’s strives to educate people on the health benefits of juicing and the staff is always happy to answer questions. Additionally, there’s detailed information posted up at the counter on the benefits of different vegetables and supplements. The juice bar has a bit of a high school cafeteria feel with a long wooden service counter, minimal décor, black and white checkered floor and tables that can be moved around to accommodate the entire volleyball team.
