In Japan and Korea, spas and bathhouses are everywhere, offering a place for families and friends to relax and recharge together. JJ Spa Plus Family Spa brings a Korean-style bathhouse experience to the Lower Mainland, the first of its kind in Canada. For a nominal entrance fee, customers have unlimited time to use the steam room, sauna, whirlpool, and heated rooms. Vigorous body scrubs to soften the skin and massages to invigorate and relax are also available for an extra charge.
Except for treatments, appointments aren't necessary. After arriving and receiving a locker, towel, and loose-fitting spa outfit, it's up to you how you'll enjoy the spa. Men and women have separate areas with steam and bathing facilities, and nudity is a fact. The Salt room is covered in coarse salt. Lying on blankets, the heat relaxes while the salty air detoxifies. The co-ed, clothing-mandatory area includes the Charcoal and Yellow Earth rooms. In the cool, dark Charcoal room you can watch Korean TV and movies. The warmer Yellow Earth room has a uniquely Asian feel, with bamboo mats covering the floor and wooden neckrests.
After a couple of hours spent alternating between warm rooms and cooler areas, and having a relaxing shower and soak, you'll emerge completely refreshed. If you really want a taste of Korean-style bathing, book a body scrub. Using a special technique, the esthetician scrubs every inch of the customer's body with loofah mitts, removing dead skin, and making the skin softer and brighter. The scrub can also be combined with massage for the ultimate skin and body treatment.
