The clientele ranges from movie personalities and social luminaries to VIPs. The dining room has a Tuscan villa motif with high ceilings, tiled floors, plentiful artwork, and walls in burnt sienna. Il Giardino has a blooming and verdant vine-covered garden patio that's an ideal spot to impress a date or simply dine alfresco. A fine-ding establishment in the middle of downtown Vancouver, Il Giardino is designed to look like it was plucked straight from rural Italy. You can dine with a date, make a reservation for a large group or reserve the whole restaurant for your event. In any situation, you will receive polite, first-rate service and a memorable dining experience.
The Food
Antipasto is a must here. The carousel of antipasti is an ideal starter for the pasta and game specialties of the house. Pasta dishes include the risotto of the day and garganelli with lobster and crab. Game meats like veal, reindeer, lamb, and pheasant are the major ingredients of the main entrees. Prepared with attention to detail and to for the same taste as Italian home-cooking, the kitchen staff pride themselves on using the freshest ingredients.
To Drink
Il Giardino has a very extensive international wine list ranging from French champagnes and Canadian sparklings to Italian, German and American reds and whites with varying flavour intensities. It also serves pricey limited bottles from Chateau Suidurant 1976 ($250) to Chateau Latour 1970 Magnum ($1400).
