Sun-drenched in Seattle

Reminiscent of an ancient Greek seaport, this four-star boutique hotel in the heart of downtown hints at an escape to faraway places. The large and thoughtfully appointed rooms are decorated in rich reds, sunny yellows and other nearly edible shades. Creative fabrics and whimsical touches create an exotic and an irrepressibly cheerful atmosphere. If you can tear yourself away from the room, you’re only steps away from Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square and some of the best shopping and eating in the Pacific Northwest. Though the complimentary wi-fi, Aveda toiletries and 24-hour fitness facility may just keep you happily holed up. And really why leave when the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable? Unlike a lot of hotel restaurants the Hotel Monaco’s Sazerac stands on its own as a Seattle hotspot. Named after the infamous New Orleans cocktail, Sazerac serves up rustic southern food alongside fresh Pacific Northwestern seafood. Everything’s made in-house and Executive Chef Jason McClure makes magic using the giant wood-burning oven that overlooks the 185-seat dining room. Not only does the oven make for perfect cedar-planked salmon – it’s also eco-friendly. Want to learn how to cook like Jason? Sign up for his very popular “Little Bit of Lovin’ Classes”. Held quarterly on Saturday afternoons, you not only get to watch a pro in action, but you get to eat as well! Good conversation, good food and good wine will make this class feel more like a dinner party. And for $50 it’s a steal. Book a spot well in advance.
