This Yaletown Japanese restaurant is situated on a small courtyard behind the Roundhouse Community Centre. Neighbours flock to it because of the prime location and lack of other mid price range sushi joints in the area. It’s a great place to stop after either taking a walk on the nearby waterfront path or indulging in some entertainment at the Roundhouse.
Consistency is the Key
Residents return here for their sushi fix regularly because of the reliability of the food. A wide ranging menu covers a la carte dishes like the standard California rolls and assorted sushi, but also specialty choices like the Sunshine Roll or the Yaletown maki. Combos and specials have a unique ring to them, beating out other restaurants’ boring arrangements with some creative combos of their own. Things like teriyaki and tempura dishes, ebi gyoza and edamame beans are always favourites.
Come in Again
What makes Honjin Yaletown Sushi Restaurant really stand out from the rest of the plentiful sushi joints in Vancouver is the service. Not just being efficient and friendly, but actually going out the way to educate diners about eating Japanese food. Not in a condescending or patronizing way, but with a politeness that makes diners feel like they’re getting some secret tips. Other highlights are the free parking spots available to customers and the stylish brickwork on the ground and building of this restaurant.
